Ahh, my first map in what feels like ages is finally finished—this one is for our brand new Travel section at Paste, and I’m so thrilled I’ll have a chance to start making maps on maps on maps. I also did the lettering for this one by hand, with some new Illustrator tricks I picked up recently—really had a blast here!
Back at the beginning of May, I was in Chicago for the HOW Design Live conference. It was amazing — I’d never been to the conference before, and have always wanted to go. I got to see some of my favorite, most inspiring designers speak up close, and was totally in awe.
During the week, we put on a dinner party series at Ada Street where we invited several design influencers who were in town for HOW Design. We talked about print vs digital design, advice for young designers, and the importance of side projects. I led the conversation and did all of the hand lettering for the title cards and lower thirds.
Here are the videos. They’re short, and they’re fun:
We throw a Paste party every year at CMJ (College Music Journal, I like to describe it as the SXSW of New York, or the Billboard of college radio) and this year I’ll be doing all of the materials for it. The event was initially titled Afternoon Delight—we ended up changing the name to The Paste Parlour, but I still loved this design!
