I’m such a fan of Creative Mornings — who doesn’t love a morning breakfast lecture series, with free coffee and snacks? This month, the theme was collaboration, and the speakers were none other than the folks from #WeLoveATL. I proposed doing a collaborative project awhile back, and we figured that this was a better time as any!
The gist, this time:
1. Take a marker, add to the doodle.
2. Once you’re done drawing, pass the marker on to a new person
3. Introduce yourself — make a new friend!

I’m so drawn to the idea of the exquisite corpse games played by the surrealists like Marcel Duchamp and May Ray. It’s a group drawing. It’s collaborative—and it’s at its core a creative exercise. I love introducing people to this game who’ve never seen it before.
My favorite part about doing these projects is watching people totally warm up to the idea—”oh, I can’t draw!” they say. “I wouldn’t know what to draw!” It helps to give them an idea. “How about your coffee cup?” “how about your hat?” Once they start drawing, it’s often the people who were most nervous are the most excited afterwards.
