Before the 2016 election, I had never seen people so fired up about their communities. People were hurting, wanting to use their voice, but weren’t sure how.
I knew from my experience working with campaign finance reform and government ethics groups some of the basics of civic engagement, real civic engagement that gets you somewhere, so I hosted several sessions of a group called ACTIVATE ATL.
We held 100+ person meetings in the Highland Inn Ballroom (RIP) to learn how to write to the electoral college, give public comment, and talk to our representatives.
