Atlanta Region’s Plan

Atlanta Region’s Plan Open House

Completed: Fall 2019

Client: Atlanta Regional Commission

Sector: Government

Scope of Work: Exhibition Design, Infographics, Map Illustration

Every four years since the 50s, the Atlanta Regional Commission has released a plan to try and account for future technology. In the 1970s, it made arrangements for MARTA.

In 1995, it established the Livable Centers Initiative, promoting livable communities. And as we move deeper into the 21st century, there’s a renewed interest in non-car transit, to ease traffic and build a better quality of life. But how does the ARC engage residents of the Atlanta metro area? A big way is through open houses throughout the region – they educate residents on all of the different facets of transportation planning, how it affects them, and how it’s paid for. They seek feedback from these folks to help hone in on the areas that need the most attention.

I was very excited to work on this project – as an urbanism nerd, I love any chance to learn more about good policies and how they affect every facet of our lives. And as a designer, my dream is to be able to make a lot of different and complex pieces of information fit together for the layman. For this open house series, we made 12 infographic boards, 2 maps, and 3 Living Infographic boards.
