My involvement in the Lightning, Struck project was a deeply meaningful journey into Atlanta's forgotten past. Teaming up with dedicated journalists Max Blau and Dustin Chambers, I played a pivotal role in documenting the memories of the Lightning community.
Through interviews, photo collections, and archival research, we pieced together a compelling oral history. This work culminated in an impactful art installation that not only commemorates the neighborhood's rich heritage but also sheds light on the policy choices that led to its demise.
It's been a profound exploration of the trauma of losing cultural and geographic ties and a quest for justice for those whose homes were lost.
